Society for Academic Emergency Medicine COVID-19 Research Grant

The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) COVID-19 Research Grant supports emergency care research related to COVID-19, which may include diagnostics, safety, therapeutics, disaster preparedness, or other relevant topic areas. The focus is on self-limited research projects that are impactful in the current or future practice of emergency medicine and can be completed in a one year time frame.
The applicant must:
- Be a member of SAEM in good standing at the application deadline and during the entire award period.
- Have an advanced/doctoral or terminal educational degree (eg MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, DSc or equivalent).
- Hold a faculty university appointment or be actively involved (eg have an adjunct appointment) with a department or division of emergency medicine or paediatric emergency medicine at the start of the award period. Emergency medicine residents in their final year of residency may apply as long as they will hold a university faculty appointment at the start of the award period. The applicant may work as a clinician at an institution other than the host institution or the institution at which the project will be conducted.
- Not have received a similar grant for the same purpose as the SAEMF proposal (no overlapping funds).
The available budget is $50,000. Grant requests can range from $5,000 to $25,000. The maximum duration is one year.
Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 1 June 2020.
